What a busy start to the summer it has been, but what an incredible start as well!
Today I’m going to fill you in on all the things I’ve been working on. It has been a while since the last blog or BenCast (sadly, my face still isn’t quite working, but it’s getting there slowly), so I’ve got a lot of exciting news for you today. Ready? Let’s go.
BEA and Libiro:
For those of you who may not have seen the tweets or Facebook posts, I spent most of May in the good ole US of A. My reasons were two-fold. Firstly I wanted a good long holiday to rest up, catch up with friends, and explore some wild Vermont countryside. But my primary reason for flying overwas to attend the Book Expo America in the inimitable city of New York.
For those of you who have never been, it’s an incredible and vast melting pot of authors, publishers, suppliers and readers. Spread over 4 days, it’s the perfect chance to make some new friends and contacts. For me it was a chance to spread the word about Libiro – the indie-only eBook store I launched last year. And my my, did I spread it. I can only provide rough details at the moment, but let’s just say the number of books available on Libiro could soon go through the roof.
If you’re an indie author and haven’t yet checked out Libiro, then you can find us at www.libiro.com.
The Written Graphic Novel:
While I was busy talking books at BEA, my graphic novel artist Mike was busy putting the finishing touches to The Written graphic novel. Let me say – it is looking INCREDIBLE. The colouring work that he’s doing really makes the whole artwork come alive, and I’m so very pleased with how it’s turning out. I am positive you will all be thrilled when it comes out, which will hopefully be within the next two months. The cover art and details should also be appearing on the Books page very soon indeed.
That’s right – not content with the written word and the painted pane, I’m now going to conquer the spoken word too.
There’s a great new platform now open to UK authors called ACX (an Amazon company) which allows you to source voice artists for your books. I’m very pleased to announce that I’ll be uploading my books to ACX over the next two weeks, which means that we could have professional audiobooks up and ready to listen to by Christmas. I’m very excited, and hope you are too.
I’ll be keeping you up to date with the project on ACX, and I’ll be sharing any sneak peeks when I can.
Last but not least… the new book.
Ah, my western fantasy in progress. It is turning into yet another monster book. I can confirm that we are now hovering around 120,000 words, and tumbling quickly towards an epic finish. What does that mean? As soon as it’s in the state of a complete first draft, you’ll know its title, and hopefully get to see the cover as well, which I commissioned while I was in the US.
I’ll be posting a brand new snippet of it this week or next to show you more of the style and the plot. I’m so excited to share it. Guns. Deserts. Railways. Riverboats. Magic. What’s not to be excited about?
That’s it from me today. While my face heals up I’ll be doing more blogs and news posts so that you can follow exactly what I’m doing. As soon as I’m able I’ll be straight back to the BenCasts and readings.
Take it easy everyone, and don’t forget to say hi on Twitter and Facebook!
